Milton D. Beck, 81, died unexpectedly Wednesday, February 4, 2009 at North Country Regional Hospital in Bemidji, MN.

Milton was born August 20, 1927 in Kelliher, MN to Louis and Elvina Beck.

He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Maxine Scheneker Beck of Blackduck; children, Rhonna (Ken) Ferdig of Blackduck, Terri (Tim) Traudt of Edina, Kevin (Kari) Beck of Blackduck and Karen (Bill) Farrell of Prior Lake; six grandchildren, Nichole Mistic, Adam Beck, Riley Farrell, Lauren Beck, Brad Farrell and Brandon Beck; sister, Dora (Ernie) Crippen; and a multitude of extended family and cherished friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Elvina Beck; a brother, Wilbur Beck, and a sister, Eileen Trautmann.

Milton was a proud life long resident of Blackduck and member of Zion Lutheran Church. He was a former partner in Beck and Wolden, a business originally established by his father and Orin Wolden, and subsequently was founder of Beck Oil Company. Milton was a dedicated community leader, serving as a Blackduck City Councilman and Mayor of Blackduck. He was a director with the Minnesota Petroleum Marketers Association, Charter member of the Blackduck Lion's Club, and a long time member of the Blackduck Civic and Commerce. Most importantly he was a devoted husband, father and grandfather who loved his family with all his heart and soul.

Memorial Services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 7, 2009 at Zion Lutheran Church in Blackduck, MN with Rev. Dan Heath officiating. A visitation will be held Friday, Feb. 6, from 6-7:30 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. at the Cease Family Funeral Home in Blackduck.
