Funeral services for Sidney E. Holverson were held Wednesday, July 2, at 2 p.m. from the St. Petri Lutheran church in Urness township. Rev. John Skepstad officiated. Pallbearers were Orvin Johnson, Melvin Sletto, Arlyn Johnson, Webster Johnson, Tomford Sletto, Deloyd Johnson. Interment was made in the St. Petri Lutheran cemetery.
Sidney Edwin Holverson was born at Rushford, Minn., March 20, 1877, the son of Amund and Rachel Holverson. He was baptized at Rushford by Rev. Wright and when he was six years of age, the Holverson family came to Urness township, Douglas county where Sidney made his home for almost 75 years. He was confirmed in the Lutheran faith and has been a lifetime member of the St. Petri congregation. On April 8, 1906, he was united in marriage to Anna Johnson by the late Rev. Benson, at Alexandria. Mrs. Holverson passed away in 1939.
Mr. Holverson has been a resident of St. Luke's rest home in Alexandria for the past 18 months, and passed away at the Douglas county hospital in Alexandria, Saturday, June 28, 1958 at the age of 81 years, 3 months, 8 days. Surviving him is one son, Raymond of Alexandria and three grandchildren. Also surviving is one sister, Mary (Mrs. Andrew Urness) of Rochester, Minn. He was preceded in death by his wife, six brothers, and two sisters, and one granddaughter.
