Max Luetgers was born in Minneapolis, Oct. 15, 1883, the son of Louis and Bertha Luetgers. At the age of 10 he moved with his parents to a farm near Waconia, Minn., where he grew to manhood. On July 12, 1911, he married Anna Rohloff. This union was blessed with five children, all of whom survive, besides his wife. They are Louis Luetgers, at home; Cpl. Alice Luetgers, WAC, in New Guinea; George Luetgers of Evansville; Mrs. Orville Hoff (Rosalind), of Ogden, Utah, and Cpl. Elmer Luetgers of San Antonia, Tex. Three grandchildren; two brothers, Albert of Evansville, and Theodore of Mound, Minn.; one sister, Elsie (Mrs. Cecil Herring) of St. Paul, also survive.

In 1911 he moved to a farm in Urness township, Douglas county, and this was his home until he was taken to Our Lady of mercy hospital, where he passed away April 20, at 1:30 a.m., being at the time of his passing almost 62 years. He attended the St. Petri Lutheran church.

Funeral services were held Sunday, April 22, at 2 o'clock from the residence and at 2:30 from St. Petri church, with Rev. H. B. Raun officiating. Interment was made in St. Petri cemetery. Pallbearers were Michael Olson, Carl Kleinhaus, Robert Schultz, Howard Christenson, Arne Lee and Frank Zormeier
