Mary A. Risse, age 86, of rural Dunkerton, died Tuesday, November 5, 2013 at her home.

She was born April 20, 1927 in Waterloo, the daughter of Louis H. and Edith M. Harris Burk. Mary was united in marriage with Gerald J. Risse on June 14, 1945 in Marshalltown, Iowa. He preceded her in death on September 30, 1994.

Mary was a homemaker and farmed with her husband for many years. She was a member of First Lutheran Church in Waterloo.

Survivors include 2 sons, Gary Risse of Dunkerton and Gregory Risse of Fern, IA; a daughter, Linda Maurer of Lawler, IA; 6 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren with an additional great grandchild expected in December; a great-great granddaughter; 2 sisters, Ramona (Howard) Brimmer of Waterloo and Emma Lou Andressen of Washburn, IA.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a brother, Art Burk and 2 sisters, Betty Miller and Matilda Bressen.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, November 8, 2013 at Garden View Chapel in Waterloo with burial in the Garden of Memories Cemetery. Public visitation will be held one hour prior to the services at the Funeral Home.
