He was a Marines Corps pilot serving in both World War II and Korea. He was married to Patricia Mary Riley for 63 years prior to her passing in 2011.
Merril was a member of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church and an Extraordinary Minister to the sick. He was an Oblate of St. Benedict.
He was a beloved father to his five children: Tim (Caran) of Newport Beach, Kevin (Loree) of Pacific Palisades, Terry (Cindy) of Thousand Oaks, Sean of Moorpark, and Bridget (William) of Albuquerque.
He is survived by his children and ten much-loved grandchildren.
A memorial Mass will be held at Our Lady of Catholic Church on Monday, August 5th at 11:00.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made in Merril Fahy's honor to the Prince of Peace Abbey at 650 Benet Hill Road, Oceanside, CA 92058-1253.
