James Willie Alston, a resident of the Toddtown community, died Nov. 5, 2009 at Grove Hill Memorial Hospital. Alston was 104 years of age. He was a veteran of the United States Army having served as a mail carrier during World War II. A member of the Ebenezer Baptist Church in Coffeeville, he served on the Trustee Board and Usher Board.

Survivors include his wife, Willo Dean Alston of Toddtown; three daughters, Margaret (Mose) Moore, Vonciel (Milton) Carver and Grace (Daniel) Robinson, all of Pittsburgh, Pa.; son, James Moss of Toddtown; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-greatgrandchildren; and brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Elder Curtis Kilpatrick and Carrie Alston, respectively, both of Jackson.

He was preceded in death by a son, John Edward Moss.

Visitation will be Friday, Nov. 13, 6-8 p.m. at the chapel of Jackson Memorial Funeral Home in Jackson. Funeral services will be Saturday, Nov. 14, 1 p.m., at the Ebenezer Baptist Church in the Ebenezer community of Jackson with the Rev. Albert Ridgeway, pastor, officiating minister. Interment will be in the church cemetery with military honors.
