Pauline Marie Turner-Sanders was born on October 1st, 1925, in Stidham, OK , the daughter of Donnie Lowell and Clara Jewel (Day) Turner, and was the eldest of nine children. She obtained her Doctorate of Education from University of Arkansas. She married Dennis Willard Sanders Sr. on March 3rd, 1946, and together they raised three children, Carolyn, Charlotte, and Dennis Sanders Jr. Pauline was an avid educator all of her life. She loved to open the minds of the young people around her to the gift of knowledge. From her youngest pupil to her oldest university student, she never stopped teaching. Dennis and Pauline dedicated their lives to education and worked extensively from OK and AR. Whenever she wasn't working, Pauline could be found working on the family farm. She loved and tended her livestock. She had a soft spot in her heart for her bovine companions. She liked cooking and often made her famous brown beans, cornbread, and fried potatoes on Saturday night. She often picked wild blackberries and made wonderful pies and cobblers. She was a genuine people person and often spent her spare time attending gospel singing or gatherings at the Caney General Baptist Church where she was a member. Pauline was a member of the AEA, the NEA, and loved any organization that improved education. Her beloved husband preceded her in death in 1991. When she retired, she stayed in home at Welling until she was no longer able to care for herself. She relocated to Springfield, MO but always had a soft spot for her home and all her family gathered close around her. She was always happiest when with her children, brothers and sisters, and especially those wonderful grandchildren. She was so very proud of their many accomplishments.. The Lord called this good and faithful servant home from her labors on November 7th, 2013 in Springfield, MO. She had recently turned 88 years old. She will be greatly missed for all the love she shared and the young minds she educated. Dr. Pauline is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her daughter, Carolyn Anita in 2011, one brother, Delbert Turner, one sister, Mildred Christie, one granddaughter, Sonja Fite, and daughter-in-law, Tonya Sanders.
