Florence was the 2nd wife of Finley B. Deuel. He was killed in a night-time railroad switching accident on 3 August 1890 in Elkhart; daughter Ona was a little over 2 years old, and daughter Una was just 7 months. Florence was shown with her parents in the 1900 census, but for reasons unknown, her daughters were not listed in their household.

Florence married Andrew Nelson Probst in Elkhart on 2 May 1906. The ceremony was conducted in her home, which afterwards continued to be their residence. Andrew remarried again after Florence's passing.

Florence's burial here has yet to be confirmed, but was thought to be with her mother, who preceded her in death in 1913. She was survived by her father and daughters, Ona and Una, and brother Everett E. Ames.

Note - Several posted family tree files list Florence's middle name as "Anna", but cite no sources. One file lists her middle name as "Ama"; again, unsourced, and possibly "Ames" misread. Similarly, "Ama" may have been miscopied as "Anna". The 1880 census clearly lists her middle initial as "E", and the middle initials for her father, mother, and brother were also given there correctly. So far, I have only found records giving her name as "Mrs. Florence A. Deuel", but as was common in those days, the "A" could have been for her maiden name, Ames.
