Leah Shaheen Abdalla, 77, of Charleston left this life to go with God on Memorial Day, May 28, 2007.

She was a member of St. George Cathedral, Charleston, where she was a longtime member of the chorus and the Ladies Guild.

Leah enjoyed reading, taking care of her houseplants and, especially, caring for her grandchildren. She also enjoyed cooking, traveling and history.

She and her husband, Herbert, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Nov. 11, 2006.

She was a longtime employee of the Traffic Engineering Department of the West Virginia Department of Highways and worked at the first Heck's Department Store in Charleston.

She was born in Toledo, Ohio, and was a graduate of Lincoln High School in Toledo.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Assad and Shalabee H. Shaheen, her stepmother, a sister and a grandchild.

Surviving: husband, Herbert H. Abdalla; sons and their wives, Kevin and Debbie Abdalla, Eric and Alisa Abdalla, Shawn and Reba Abdalla and Tracy and Krista Abdalla and Richard Abdalla and companion, Martha, all of Charleston; brothers, George Shaheen of Indiana and John Shaheen of Charleston; sister, Yvonne Wilhelm of Charleston; 15 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Service will be 11 a.m. Thursday, May 31, at St. George Cathedral with the Rev. Father Olaf Scott officiating.

Entombment will be in Sunset Memorial Park, South Charleston.
