Turk served three years of WWII in the European Theater under General Patton. He was a truck driver and equipment operator until he retired and returned to Ainsworth. He remained involved in driving trucks until he turned 80 Years old. Turk's life memberships include Elk B.P.O.E. lodge 1790 and American Legion #79. He was a Brown County Volunteer Fireman throughout the 1950's.
Two children preceded him in death: his son Floyd (Buddy) Engle and daughter Janece Engle Painovich: his parents and three brothers. He is survived by his wife Hazel, of Ainsworth: son,Frank (Barbara) Engle of Wheatland, WY: daughter Charylene (Bruce)Cleveland of Rupert ID, daughter Cheryl(Jim)Fellenberg of Wasilla, AK: daughter-in-law, Madonna(Clifford)Taylor of Unionville,VA:two sisters-in-law, Ramona Piper of Kaysville, UT, and Sharon Westover of Ashland, NE; nine grand children, two step grand children, ten great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews including a special niece, Venita Hagerman of Ainsworth.
Funeral services were held on Friday, November 1, 2013 at Hoch Funeral Home in Ainsworth, NE. with Pastor Neva Murphy officiating. Special music was offered by Joe McBride, with song selections of "A Love Without End" and "Master's Bouquet" Pallbearers were Donald Moody, Brad Moody, Ken Keim,Bob Maxwell, Bill Haskell,Vince Cleveland, Frank Engle Jr. and Lonnie Engle-Flesher. Honorary Bearers were all of Turk's other friends. Organizational Rites were given by B.P.O.E Eks Lodge #1790 and Military Honor's were presented at Ainsworth Cemetery by the Ainsworth American Legion Post #79. Memorials were suggested to the American Legion Post #79 American Legion Avenue of Flags Project, the Ainsworth Senior Center or to the donor's choice.
