Bob was born in Creston Iowa to William Kemper Tilford and Cleo Cherrington, he had 3 sisters. Bob met and married Peggy Dougherty in Des Moines, Iowa and was blessed with 2 daughters. Bob was a paper boy for the register and worked at J.C. Penneys and moved a few times and finally was the owner of Tilfords Department store in Franklin, Nebraska. Bob and Peggy assisted with the development of the Country club and was a avid golfer. After many years they retired to Las Vegas. Peggy lost her short battle with cancer Bob moved to Oklahoma City nursing home to be close to his daughter and passed away in 2013 . His ashes and Peggy's ashes was buried at Iowa Veterans Cemetery.

Robert passed away after a long battle from Alzeimers disease, his body was donated to science. His ashes interred May 2013.
