Jackie Wayne Hicks, Sr. 63 of Blytheville, Ark., died Wednesday, March 7, 2007 at the South Mississippi County Regional Medical Center in Osceola, Ark.
Born June 5, 1943 in Hornersville, he is the son of the late Stacy Hicks and Lorene Baugus Hicks.
He was also preceded in death by one son, Jackie Hicks, Jr.; one grandson, Stevie Branch; and one brother, Ronnie Hicks.
Jackie was united in marriage to Zola Marie Hale on October 11, 1961 in Holland.
He served his country in the United States Army until he was Honorably Discharged.
He received recognition of being a Marksman (M-1) Rifle).
He was employed with Simmons Metal Works as a welder until his retirement.
He was a member of the Harvest Time Tabernacle in Blytheville and was very active in his church where he mowed the church yard, cooked for the church functions and planted trees around the church property. He enjoyed planting flowers, making barbecue pits and welding.
Mr. Hicks leaves his wife, Marie Hicks, of the home; five daughters: Pam Hobbs, Paula Hicks and Jolynn Galbraith, all of Blytheville, and Sheila Muse and Judy Elliott Sadler, both of Steele; ten grandchildren: Amanda Hobbs, Stacie Galbraith, Steve Hicks and Charlie Galbraith of Blytheville and Samantha Davidson, Lindsey Muse, Brooke Muse, Brandon Muse, Keith Elliott and Tyler Elliott of Steele; one great-grandson, Christopher Neal, of Memphis, Tenn.; and one brother, Clayburn Hicks, of Blytheville.
Funeral services for Mr. Hicks were held at 2 p.m., Saturday, March 10, at the Powell Funeral Home Chapel in Steele with Rev. Dale Ruddick officiating.
Burial was at the Mount Zion Cemetery in Steele.
Pallbearers were Johnny Richardson, J.B. Barnard, Brice Hicks, Troy Hicks, Ben Sadler, Randy Duda, Steve Lewis and J.C. Conley.
