Son of Joe Lewis (1814 LA - Between 1858-60 Orange Co., TX) and Alydia Stephenson. Joe 1st married Rhoda Williams on 28 Feb 1839 in Jefferson Co., TX. He them married Lydia Williams on 4 Dec 1845 in Jefferson Co., TX. Joel Lewis 2nd wife Lydia Stephens Williams, his 1st wife's brother's wife.

Alydia "Lydia" Stephens 1st married Hezekiah Reams Williams (1810 St. Helena Parish, LA - After 1844 in Jefferson Co., TX) on 5 October 1837 in TX. 2nd she married Joe Lewis (1814 LA - Between 1858-60 Orange Co., TX) on 4 December 1845 in Jefferson Co., TX. 3rd she married James Alford Moore (8 Sep 1833 GA - 15 Dec 1894 Lavaca Co., TX) between 9th and 17th February 1861 in Orange Co., TX. Between all three marriage Lydia had ten children.

J F Lewis married Laura M Dyer, on Wednesday, 19th November 1884 in Lavaca County, Texas.

Halletsville Herald, Dated Thursday, January 31, 1889, Hope Happenings, Last Thursday, while Frank Lewis and a young man named Burres, were in a friendly scuffle over the possession of a gun, the same, was discharged and the load entering the body of young Burres, from the effects of which he died Saturday.

Joel Lewis (46-TX) w/ wife of 16 yrs Laura (44-0 of 0 Children-TX-TN-TN), brother James Moore (38-TX-GA-LA) neices (Ida (14-TX), Alydia (13-TX), nephew Edward (10-TX). If Joel is James brother from where their parents were born they share a mother, explains the difference in last names.

Found in the 4 May 1910 census in Lavaca Co., TX. Frank J Lewis (54-TX-IL-LA) w/ wife of 26 yrs Laura (52-0 of 0 children-TX-TN-TN).

Halletsville Herald, Dated Friday, January 13, 1911, Live Oak - Frank Lewis, a prominent citizen of the Sweet Home section, while sawing a limb from a china tree near his door, on the Adolph Einkauf place, fell the distance of ten or twelve feet and was knocked unconscious for several hours. This happened Christmas eve; when he regained consciousness he was unable to walk but could crawl to a pond of water and drink. A week later, Dec. 31, he was found lying in his yard by Emil Rickway, who was passing. He had been alone all that time. His wife was immediately 'phoned for and arrived next day (The next day?). He was considerably bruised and is no better today. NOTE: Per 1910 Census Adolph Einkauf was living in Blanco County, Texas (which is on the west side of Austin, Texas). Per 1910 Census Emil Reckaway (21/1889) in Precinct 5, Texana Road, Hallettsville, Lavaca Co., TX). Per 1910 Census Frank & Laura Lewis (married 26 years) are living in Precinct 7, on Sweet Home & Hallettsville Road, Lavaca Co., TX.

Found in the 14 Jan 1920 census in Lavaca Co., TX. Mark Lewis (64-Widowed-Rent-TX-IL-LA). Wife, Laura died after the 1910 census and before the 1920 census.

Frank Lewis aged 69 years died at his home in Sweet Home Tuesday after a short illness. He was living by himself, his wife died some years ago. He was an old time resident of Sweet Home, having lived there for about forty years. Interment was at the Sweet Home cemetery, Rev. Carl of the Yoakum Methodist church officiating.

Frank died 20 August 1924 at the age of 70 years. Frank Lewis' TX D/C states father as Joe Lewis, Male, White, Widowed; Informant Rillie Moore of Cuero, TX.
