Shawn Alan Blatzer, 12, won his battle with cancer at 4:20 PM Friday and is now in glory with Christ. Shawn was born in Gainesville and had been a resident of Jacksonville for the past year. He was a member of the Normandy Park Baptist Church where he was very active in the youth group. Gator football, Jacksonville Suns baseball and going to the gun range with his dad and Papa were just a few of the things that Shawn enjoyed. Even though he lived only 12 years, he lived a life that was full and he fulfilled the purpose God gave him. He will be missed by his family and the many lives he touched.
Shawn is survived by his loving parents, Shawn and Kati, his two brothers, Elijah and Israel, grandparents, Darryl & Susan, Diane and David, great grandparents, Glen and Patti, aunts and uncles, Hannah, Cassie and Jason, Joel, Frank, and Darryl and Jessica.
Funeral Services will be held 11:00 AM Tuesday, September 17, 2013 in the Normandy Park Baptist Church with burial to follow in the Riverside Memorial Park. Visitation with the family will be from 10-11:00 AM Tuesday prior to services.
