According to "The Fowler Family: a Genealogical Memoir of the Descendants of Philip and Mary Fowler of Ipswich, Massachusetts": Edward Stacy Fowler was born in Ipswich, Massachusetts. He lived in Sangerville before moving to Aroostook, He has two children recorded in Sangerville records, Stacy Fowler b. 27 Feb 1829 and Mary Fowler b. in Winthrop on 11 Sep 1833. He was a farmer and was a deacon of the Congregational Church in Sangerville, Maine. In 1844, he was of Fort Fairfield, Aroostook, Maine where he organized the first congregational church of the town in his own log cabin. There were five members including himself, and he was deacon. In June 1873, a church was erected in Fort Fairfield and his son Stacy Fowler preached the dedication sermon.
