Mary R. Knapp, 90 of Coleman, died Tuesday, March 5, 2013 at Friendly Acres in Coleman.
She was born September 28, 1922 in Mt. Pleasant, the daughter of the late Clyde J. and Sadie (York) Chivington. Mary wed Jay D. Knapp on June 22, 1952. He died September 1, 1965.
Mary owned and operated the Mary K Beauty Shop in Coleman for several years as well as the CCC and Co. Hairport in California for 16 years. She enjoyed reading and writing poetry. She had traveled or vacationed in almost all of the 50 states.
Survivors include her daughters Rhonda and Jerry Cronk of Ontario, California, J'Ann and Jeff Lewis of Coleman; son Daryl and Nancy Beverlin of West Virginia; 8 grandchildren and several great grandchildren. Mary was preceded in death by her daughter Linda Watkins, brother Jim Chivington, three sisters Esther Bellinger, Hazel Lackie and Jessie Lane.
Funeral services will be held 1 PM Saturday, March 9, 2013 at the O'Laughlin Funeral Home, Inc in Coleman, with Pastor Cory Herthel officiating. Burial will take place in the Warren Township Cemetery, Coleman. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 5-7 PM and Saturday starting at 12 noon until the time of services. Memorials are suggested to Friendly Acres of Coleman.
