Obituary from local newspaper:

William Scott attended the Frantz School near his home in Indian Territory [southwest of Edna, Labette County, Kansas]. On December 16, 1905, a Saturday, he was stabbed in the abdomen by a 16 year old classmate, Newton Marsh, as he was getting his horse to leave school. The boys had "a little trouble" the previous week, but had appeared to have made up. Marsh went to Edna on Sunday, 17 December, to meet a brother and sister who were arriving by train when he was arrested by Marshall Caler. On Monday, U.S. Marshall Sam Burns came to Edna and took Marsh to Vinita, in Indian Territory [now Craig County, Oklahoma]. Young Will Scott [18 years old] died on Thursday, December 21, 1905, at the home of a sister in Indian Territory. His funeral was conducted by Rev. J.R. Hankins at the Methodist Episcopal Church in Edna.

[Newton Marsh did not serve any time for his crime.]
