CPL US ARMY, KOREA

ARTHUR B. 'BILL' COMPTON , 74, of Collierville, retired sales executive, died Wednesday at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Collierville. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at West Tennessee Veterans Cemetery. Collierville Funeral Home has charge. He was a Korean War Army veteran, a Mason, an Al Chymia Shrine Band member, a member of Collierville Presbyterian Church and a Shelby County Senior Crime Watch and a former member of Kiwanis Club. Mr. Compton , the husband of Bert Compton , also leaves two sons, Gary B. Compton of Collierville and Mark D. Compton of Memphis; two sisters, Anne Lumpkin of Southaven and Shirley Welborn of Cordova; a brother, Wayne Compton of Littleton, Colo., and four grandchildren. The family requests that memorials be sent to the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation of Collierville or Collierville Presbyterian Church. (Published in The Commercial Appeal on July 19, 2002)
