Harold Edward "Ed" Rentz, Sr., 74, of Baxley, died Thursday, November 7, 2013 at Southeast Georgia Health System in Brunswick.

Rentz was born August 1, 1939 in Appling County to the late James Harold Rentz and the late Juanita Combs Rentz. He was a Veteran of the United States Army and a retired Line Supervisor with Georgia Power. He was a member of Dunn Memorial Baptist Church where he served as a trustee and on the building and grounds committee. He was also a member of the Holmesville Masonic Lodge #195 F and AM.

Survivors include his wife, Peggy Bullard Rentz of Baxley; children, Michelle (William) Hall of Baxley, Karen (Steve) Douglas of Ringgold, Eddie (Dana) Rentz and Kim (Rusty) Beckworth both of Baxley; sisters, Barbara Ann Horton of Odum, Harolyn Kent of Surrency, Prissy Rentz, Glenda Bass, Cheryl Stone, Judy McDaniel, Marilyn Hall, and Janice Craven all of Baxley; a brother, Rodney Rentz of Baxley; ten grandchildren, two step grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Sunday, November 10, at 2:00 p.m. from Dunn Memorial Baptist Church with the Rev. Rick Brown, the Rev. Allen Rea, and the Rev. Brad Pickren officiating.Interment followed in Memorial Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery.

Active pallbearers were Justin Hall, Andrew Douglas, Aaron Douglas, Clayton Vaughn, Patrick Rentz, and Clint Bass.

Honorary pallbearers were the members of the Adult Sunday School Class of Dunn Memorial Baptist Church, Mr. and Mrs. Gene Head, Mr. and Mrs. Tim Flood, Mr. and Mrs. Mitchell Steadham, Mr. and Mrs. James Rentz, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Tillman, Mr. and Mrs. Damon Murphy, Mr. and Mrs. Randy Hunter, Mr. and Mrs. James Reynolds, Mr. and Mrs. Tom Heath, Mr. and Mrs. Wilton Miles, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Crosby, Mr. and Mrs. Wade McDaniel, Jeff Robinson, Rodney Robinson, Edsel Mayers, and all friends in attendance of the funeral service.

Music was rendered by David Williams, Marilyn Bass and Tamela Folsom.

Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Swain Funeral Home.
