Donna J. Duffield, 86, Browns Valley, MN, passed away Thursday, October 24, 2013 at the Browns Valley Health Center after a brave 5-year battle with cancer.

Funeral services were Wednesday, October 30, 2013, at 1:00 p.m. at the United Methodist Presbyterian Church in Browns Valley with Rev. John Ragan officiating. Music was provided by vocalist Todd Johnson and accompanist Janet LeClair.

Burial was in the Valley View Cemetery, Browns Valley. Pallbearers were her grandsons, Nathan Metz, and Gabriel Metz; and nephews, Dennis Duffield, David Duffield, Michael Medbery, and Pat Dady.

Donna was born March 15, 1927, in Estelline, SD, to Mildred (Ross) Moore and Bernard Moore. She attended school in Estelline and moved to Browns Valley in her high school years. She graduated from Browns Valley High School in 1944. Donna worked at the Valley News after high school and married Keith William "Bill" Duffield on October 6, 1946. They made their home in Browns Valley until her death.

Donna was an active participant in the community. She was a member of Eastern Star, a charter member of the This & That Club, a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, and participated in several bridge clubs over the years. She was very active in the UMPW group and the Browns Valley Historical Society. She was an avid reader, curious and interested in the world around her, and loved going to auctions and hunting for treasures at antique stores. She had wonderful taste and delighted in finding unusual objects, furniture, glassware, and art. She enjoyed gardening, and was an excellent cook and homemaker. She was strong and fiercely independent until the very end of her life.

Survivors include her children, Paula (Rick) Arbour of Eagan, MN, Peggy (John) Metz of Glenwood, MN, Todd (Stacy) Duffield of St. Petersburg Beach, FL, and Ann (Steve) Fulin of St. Paul, MN; grandchildren, Nathan (Jennifer) Metz, Gabriel Metz, Jocelyn (Adrian) Smith, Rachel Fulin, and Rebecca Fulin; great-grandchildren, Sydney, Rylee, and Tyson Metz, and Ross, Chase, and Harper Smith; sister, JoAnn Medbery; brother, Dennis Johnson (Pauline Early); brothers-in-law, Alan Duffield, and Jim Dady; sister-in-law, Patti (Martin) Kyro; and many nieces & nephews and treasured friends.

Donna was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Bill.
