Horace Eldon Robb, age 85, of Norman, went home to be with his Lord, Wednesday, November 13, 2013, at Norman Regional Hospital. Eldon was born November 3, 1929, in Oilton, Oklahoma. He was the 6th child of eight children born to James Ralph Robb and Cora Alice (Leonard) Robb. Eldon grew up in Oilton and graduated from Oilton High School in 1946. That same year he joined the United States Army Air Corp and proudly served his country for three years. After being honorably discharged on January, 1949, he returned home to Oilton where he met the love of his life, Mary Jo Stottlemyre. They were married on December 23, 1951, in Oilton, and to this union four children were born, Terry, Larry, Sandra and Stacy. Eldon worked as a Communication Technician for Mobil Oil Company, retiring in 1990. Because of his work, Eldon lived in various states and towns in Texas, Oklahoma, and Kansas. He and his family lived in Purcell for nearly 20 years before moving to Norman in 1994. Throughout his life, Eldon was a faithful Christian man and was active in the Baptist Church wherever he was living. For many years he was a member of the First Baptist Church in Purcell and currently a member of Enterprise Baptist Church in Norman. Because of his compassion for mission work, he and Mary went on numerous Mission Trips to Mexico. In 1992, they attended language school in Costa Rica for eight months before going to Mexico to serve as assistants to Missionaries. After a short time in Mexico, Eldon became ill and they returned home to Norman. A hobby that allowed Eldon to stay active in Mission work was being an Amateur Ham Radio Operator. He enjoyed helping Missionaries by running phone patches through his radio to their loved ones back in the States. Some other hobbies that Eldon enjoyed were building remote-controlled airplanes, taking his family camping, fishing and hunting. He will be remembered as a wonderful husband, a loving father and grandfather, a special brother and a dear friend.
