Joseph W. Throckmorton, 96, of Waynesburg, died at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, November 12, 2013, in Evergreen Personal Care, Waynesburg.

He was born Monday, June 25, 1917, in Waynesburg, a son of the late John D. Throckmorton and Gertrude McNurlin Throckmorton.

Mr. Throckmorton was a member of Fairall United Methodist Church.

He enjoyed farming and was a thrasher from 1938 to 1958. For several years, he was a weigh master at the Pennsylvania Livestock Auction in Waynesburg.

On May 19, 1938, he married Evelyn Hughes, who died May 23, 1991.

Surviving are two sons, Donald J. (Joanna) Throckmorton and Ronald W. Throckmorton, both of Waynesburg; four grandchildren, D. Joseph Throckmorton, John A. Throckmorton, Deborah Throckmorton and Ronald W. Throckmorton Jr.; and 10 great-grandchildren, Danielle Benson, Kayla Throckmorton, Kara Throckmorton, Alissa "Lissy" Throckmorton, Scott Throckmorton, Mark Throckmorton, Mandy Throckmorton, Meg Throckmorton, Claire Throckmorton and Anne Throckmorton.

Mr. Throckmorton was the last of his immediate family.

Deceased are a great-granddaughter, Jessica Lynn Bihun; a daughter-in-law, Bonnie R. Throckmorton; and a sister, Ruth Hoge.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday in Milliken and Throckmorton Funeral Home Inc., Daryl L. Throckmorton, owner/director, 197 North Maiden Street, Waynesburg, PA 15370, where services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, November 15, with the Rev. Ronald Geisler officiating.
