MISSION, Texas- Kathleen "Kathy" Allen-Mueller, formerly of McPherson, entered into heaven on Oct. 7, 2009, at her home in Mission, Texas, at the age of 64.
She was born in Eau Claire, Wisc., on Oct. 18, 1944, the daughter of James and Mildred Kirk.
She was first married to Larry A. Allen, the father of her three children. She was proceeded in death by her parents and youngest son Steven. Her remaining children are James L. Allen of New York, N.Y., and David L. Allen of McPherson. She had two grandchildren, Arianna and Grace Allen.
She was a lifetime Registered Nurse. Her work history included work in critical/ coronary care units, chemotherapy, "House Supervisor" at McPherson Memorial Hospital and finally in home health.
In 1992, she remarried and moved to the Rio Grande Valley area of Southern Texas.
Music and church were always a big part of her life. She was an accomplished pianist, organist as well as playing the trumpet and guitar. She loved traveling and performing Christian music with her family. When they all sang together, they were known as the "Sons & Heirs." Kathy spent a lifetime involved in church music. Some of her many loves were cats, cooking and Christ.
Memorials are suggested to the Grace K. Allen Educational Fund in care of the First United Methodist Church of McPherson.
Memorial services will be at the First United Methodist Church Thursday, Nov. 5, 2009, at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Harold Nelson officiating. Services arrangements are under the direction of Kathy's son, David L. Allen.
