KINSLEY - Ina May Thornton, 87, died Sept. 4, 1998, at Wesley Medical Center, Wichita. She was born Aug. 29,1911, in Cowley County, the daughter of Walter Clayton and Ella May Ruggles Ogilbee. A Kinsley resident since 1964, coming from Geneseo, she was a retired dental hygienist. She belonged to Kinsley United Methodist Church, the Sunflower Extension Homemakers Unit and the Birthday Club, all at Kinsley, and the Order of Eastern Star, Lyons.

On June 1, 1935, she married Paul Appling at Winfield. He died May 4,1957. On July 11,1963, she married George Thornton at Macksville. He died Oct. 20,1982.

Survivors include: a son, Larry L. Appling, Kinsley; a niece (whom she raised), Jean A. Bechtel, Osawatomie; and three grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother, C.C. Ogilbee; and a sister, Pansy Peden.

Graveside service will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in McPherson Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, and the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, both at Stockham Family Funeral Home, McPherson.
Memorials may be sent to the Kansas Children's Service League or to the American Heart Association, both in care of the funeral home.
