Huguette Janine "Jean" Abbott, 87, of Freeport, died Tuesday October 8, 2013, at Select Specialty Hospital, Madison, Wisconsin.

Jean was born on October 31, 1925, in Lorient, France, the daughter of Felix and Yvonne (LeBihan) Coquaud. Jean married Robert A. Abbott in Paris, France, on May 11, 1946. Mr. Abbott died February 10, 1966.

While living in Chicago, Mrs. Abbott was employed by Martha's Candy Store and later Marshall Fields at Water Tower Place. Jean loved her church and led numerous prayer groups in Chicago. She traveled to Europe by boat several times. Jean loved to dance, sing, and spend time in nature with flowers and animals. She had a special affection for her grand puppy, Beau, whose spirited antics always made her laugh. Most of all Jean loved her grandchildren. Mrs. Abbott was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church.

Surviving are son, Steven Abbott of Chicago; daughter, Linda (Bob) Lloyd of Freeport; and four grandchildren, Megan (Andrew) Bernsee, Robby, Christopher and Olivia Lloyd.

Jean was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and brother. Funeral Mass will be 11 a.m. Monday at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church. Rev. Kenneth Anderson will officiate. Visitation will be Sunday from 3 to 5 p.m. with a scripture service at 3 p.m. at Burke-Tubbs Funeral Home. Entombment will be in Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Hillside, IL.
