She received her Bachelors degree from Southwest Texas State University and her Master's Degree in special education from Henderson State University. Hattie was with Group Living in Arkadelphia for many years where she served as the assistant director.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Dr. Erwin Joseph Janek and one brother, William J. Meyer Jr.
Survivors are one daughter, Anya Walters and husband, Joel of Fayetteville, Arkansas; two grandchildren, Isis Janek and Sidney Walters and partner Tom Tutt.
Visitation was held by Ruggles-Wilcox Funeral Home in Arkadelphia with memorial service to be scheduled for a later date.
