John William "Bill" Burgess,66, a former Stockdale resident, died Tuesday at Greenbriar Cavalecent Center.

A native of Minford and a former employee of the former Century Last Co., he was a World War II Navy Veteran.

Surviving are two brothers, Gerald W. Burgess of Dayton and George R. Burgess of Aberdeen; and a sister, Martha Jane Burgess of Huntington W. Va.

Service is 10:30 a.m. Friday at Erwin-Dodson Funeral Home in Minford, with the Rev. Clarence Dinnen officiating and military graveside rites at Stockdale Cemetery by James Irwin Post American Legion.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 4 to 9 p.m.Thursday and from 9 a.m. until the service Friday.
