Ruble Erastes Bridges, 76, of Marion passed away at 8:45 a.m. Saturday, March 2, 2003, at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Marion.
Graveside services will be held on Wednesday March 5, 2003 at Rose Hill Cemetery, Marion, with the Marion Veterans Foreign Wars Post No. 1301 conducting military rites. Visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 5, 2003, at the Blue Funeral Home in Marion. Memorials may be made to the Marion VFW Post No. 1301 Ritual Team. Envelopes are available at the funeral home or may be sent in care of Blue Funeral Home, P. O. Box 411, Marion, IL 62959.
Mr. Bridges was born Feb. 6, 1927, in Golden, Miss., to Oliver and Rena Mae (South) Bridges. He married Doris Norris on July 20, 1967, in Belmont, Miss., and she survives. Other survivors include son, Edward Bridges of Granger, Texas; daughter, Amanda Bridges of Marion; brother, Vardaman Bilbo Bridges of Wilson, Ark.; and sister, Opal Strickland of Golden, Miss.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Sally Ann Bridges; five brothers; and two sisters.
Mr. Bridges served in the United States Navy from 1944 until 1965 on several ships. He was a life member of the VFW Post No. 6112 in Belmont.
