In retirement, Walfred (Wally) G. Swenson enjoyed fishing and dairy farm work for Allen Sandberg.
After growing up in the North Branch and Stacy, Minn., area, Swenson had, for a time, operated Wally's Place in Stacy. Then he moved to South St. Paul and worked for Swift & Co. until he retired in 1965. He then moved to a place on North Center Lake near Center City, Minn., and later moved to Lindstrom, Minn., where he lived until his death.
Swenson died Dec. 27, 1987, at Chisago Lakes Hospital. He was 84.
The funeral was held Wednesday, Dec. 30, at Chisago Lake Lutheran Church in Center City. Interment was at Acacia Park Cemetery, Mendota Heights, Minn.
One of 15 children he was born in North Branch Dec. 20, 1903, to Mr. and Mrs. Gustaf Swenson. He was married to Myrtle Dahl of Spring Lake in 1927 and she preceded him in death in 1953.
In 1955 he was married to Edith Peterson of Chisago City, Minn.
He is survived by his wife, Edith; son, Gerald, and daughter, Marcelline Luhrs, both of Cottage Grove, Minn.; brothers, Gilbert and Waldemar; sisters, Elizabeth, Judith, Elvie and Ruth; seven grandchildren and five great-grand- children.
