​ Francis James GUNTER. Lieutenant, 11th (Prince Albert's Own) Hussars.
Born 5th August 1893.
Fell in action in the second battle of Ypres 24th May 1915.
Son of Mrs. James Gunter, of Aldwark Manor, Alne, York, and the late Maj. Gen. James Gunter.
Gazetted, Aug., 1914, to the 11th Hussars, and attached to the 12th Reserve Cavalry Regt. for training, becoming Lt. in Sept., 1914. Went to the front, 9th Dec., 1914.
He is commemorated on a memorial is in church of St Stephen, Aldwark , also on the war memorial in Alne, St Mary, both in Yorkshire, and on the Menin Gate Memorial, Ypres, Belgium.
