Thomas J. Potts, age 97, of Dublin, died Wednesday, July 5, 2006 in Newark. He was born June 23, 1909 in Dayton, Oh. to the late Frank and Iva (Courtwright ) Potts. He was a graduate of the North High School, The Ohio State University and Harvard University Law School. He was a member of Phi Sigma Kappa, Varsity Debate Team, Phi Delta Gamma Forensic Society, and Scabbard and Blade at OSU. He was a WWII veteran and a 32nd Degree Mason. A longtime resident of Columbus, he was active in Republican politics and served as treasurer of the Ohio for Goldwater for President committee. He served as past president of Big Brothers and ARC. He was a member of the University Club. He also lived in Fort Lauderdale, FL and Greenville, SC. He served on a number of boards, including King College, Bristol, TN; president of Westminister Academy Board and the Greenhouse Board of Coral Ridge Presbyterian Church in Fort Lauderdale. During his lifetime, he was active in Campus Crusade, Child Evangelism Fellowship and numerous other Christian ministries. Preceded in death by his brother Robert Potts. He is survived by his wife, Ruth Potts; his daughters, Angileen "Jill" Potts Gilbert of Toledo, Louisa Salmon (Dr. James) of Erie, PA, Barbara Potts of Columbus; son, Thomas Graham Potts of Columbus; step-son, Ian Edwards (Deborah) of Grand Rapids, MI; grandchildren, Lynn Stuart (Scott) of Heath, Jennifer Gilbert of Powell, Rebecca Glus (Robert) of Albion, Pa, Dr. James T. Salmon (Sarah) of Erie, Pa.; great-grandchildren, Alexander, Meaghan, Owen, Devin, Kayleigh and Keilan Stuart, James and Micah Glus, and Zachary and Joshua Salmon; nephews, Richard (Betsy) Potts and James (Tamara) Potts; and niece, Margaret Dufford.
