John was the son of Harleigh Parker, born Indiana, and Sarah J. Hopkins, born Minnesota. He attended Minneapolis South High School, and the University of Minnesota School of Agriculture.
John Parker enlisted April 1917 at Minneapolis. He trained at Fort Snelling, Camp Cody and Camp Merritt. He was killed in action in France.
He had a brother, Owen R. Parker, who lived 4602 Lake Harriet Blvd, Minneapolis, circa 1920.
