Ralph J. Spangenberg, age 94, of Marinette, WI, passed away Tuesday evening, Dec. 28, 2021 at his home with family by his side. He was born April 6, 1927 in Menominee, MI, to Edward and Margaret (Borths) Spangenberg, in early years he grew up on the family farm outside of Peshtigo.

He was a veteran of service in the United States Navy during World War II.

On Sept. 9, 1949, he married the former Jean E. Roeder and they shared 71 years of marriage. He had worked as Machine Room Superintendent at Badger Paper Mills in Peshtigo, retiring in 1989.

An accomplished carpenter, over the years he built many homes and crafted many beautiful wooden gifts for his grandchildren that are now family heirlooms. He was a member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Marinette and Menominee American Legion Post 146.

He is survived by three daughters: Barbara (Bill) Wolard of Menominee, MI; Cindy (Gary) Robinson of Ontario, Canada and Tami (Ken) Koutnik of Marinette, WI;
five grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents and his wife, Jean who passed away in October of 2020, he was preceded in death by a sister and brother-in-law, Helen and Walter Ahrens.

A private family Memorial Service will be held at Hansen Onion Martell Funeral Home in Marinette, with Rev. Jon Tesch officiating.
