J. A. Lloyd Weaver, 74 of 714 Lincoln Way, former state representative, died suddenly of a heart attack Thursday about 7 p.m. while walking near Cherry Rd. NW.
Dr. Edward C. Reno, Stark county coroner who investigated, said death was due to coronary occlusion.
Mr. Weaver had visited at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. L. E. Bishop of 909 1st St. NE and, accompanied by Mr. Bishop, was viewing the progress on the Cherry Rd. viaduct when seized with the attack. He was removed in an ambulance of the Arnold-Lynch funeral home to the Massillon city hospital where he was pronounced dead.
A retired farmer of Manchester, O., Mr. Weaver had lived in Massillon the past seven years. He served three terms as state representative from Summit county and was a former secretary of the Ohio State grange. He taught Sunday school for 50 years at the Church of Christ, Manchester. He was a member of the First Christian church and the U. R. Welcome class of the church of this city and the Jr. O. U. A. M. of Greensburg.
Mr. Weaver is survived by his widow, Mrs. Gertrude Weaver; three daughters, Mrs. Earl Pfeifle and Mrs. Earl Young of Akron and Mrs. Irvin Wander of Winterhaven, Fla.; four sons, Willard Weaver of Canal Fulton, Burdette and Joel Weaver of Uniontown and Ralph Weaver of Clinton; a step-son, Walter S. Ritter of Massillon and 18 grandchildren.
The funeral will be held Sunday at 2:30 p.m. in the Manchester Evangelical and Reformed church. Interment will be made in the Manchester cemetery.
The body is at the Arnold-Lynch funeral home in Lincoln Way E. where friends may call Saturday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. It will be taken Sunday at noon to the church where it will lie in state until the hour of service.
