William John Bailly, 71, entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, July 30, 2008 within the loving care of his family at home. born in Jersey City, NJ, William was a resident of Piscataway for 46 years before moving to Dunellen five years ago.

Mr. Bailly served in the United States Army as an Army Specialist 4th Class at Fort Devons, MA. Later he workedd for Western Electric in Kearny. He was a police officer with the Piscataway Police Department for 30 years before retiring as plice captain in 1992. He was a member of the Policeman's Benevolent Association, Local #93, having served as past president. He also was a past treasurer and member of American Legion Post 261 in Piscataway.

William was an avid reader with a keen interest in History. He enjoyed the New York Yankees, crossword puzzles, fishing and golfing. Mr. Bailly will be greatly missed by family and friends for his love of relaying stories and having a hearty laugh. He was a devoted grandfather to his six grandchildren who lovingly called him Pop-Pop and Pops. Some of his fondest moments were of time spent with them. Always to be in our hearts, now in the arms of God.

Mr. Bailly was the beloved husband for 50 years of Barbara (nee Roskell); loving father of Matthew and his wife Joan of Delaware Township; Bethann Eike and her husband Douglas of Rockaway and Eileen Piekarski and her husband William of Dunellen; proud grandfather of Ryan, Tyler, Lauren, Kyle, Brielle and Evan; also survived by his brother George and his wife, Jeanette of Tarpon springs, FL and numerous nieces and nephews. Mr Bailly was predeceased by his son William Christopher in 2007.

Those wishing an expression of sympathy may make a donation in his name to St. Hubert's Giralda Animal Shelter, 3201 Route 22 East, North Branch, NJ.

Visitation will be held on Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at Sheenan Funeral Home, Dunellen. Funeral Mass will be on Monday at 9 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist RC Church. Cremation will be at Somerset Hills Crematory, Basking Ridge.
