Thomas Edwin Bass, age 92, of Flower Mound, Texas, passed away on Sunday, November 17th , surrounded by his loving family and friends. Tom was born in Hopewell, Mississippi on March 29, 1921 and raised in Gainesville, Texas. Bass retired as a Bird Colonel from the Air Force in 1965 after serving in World War II, the Korean War and the Vietnam war. After retirement he went to work for Colt Industries in Washington DC as a corporate executive for twenty years, Later and back in his home state of Texas he worked for Standard Manufacturing of Dallas as a consultant. He married Joan McCoy in 1965 and raised 2 children, Thomas Whitfield and Katherine Ashley. He is preceded in death by his parents, James Peter and Sallie Whitfield Bass and is survived by his wife, Joan, son Tommy and his wife Rebecca, daughter Ashley, brother James Bass of Gaithersburg, MD, sister-in-law Betty Burroughs of Hot Springs, AK and numerous loving nephews and nieces. Family will receive friends on Thursday, Nov 21st from 4-7pm at the Mulkey Mason Funeral Home in Lewisville, Texas and will celebrate his life on Friday, Nov 22 at 2pm at the First United Methodist Church in Gainesville, Texas. 214 S. Denton Street, Gainesville, TX. Tom will be laid to rest in Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
