F. Ellen Krekel, 87, formerly of 1012 Hedge Street, died Friday, October 27, 1989, at the Hancock Nursing Home, Carthage, Illinois. Born June 4, 1902, in New London, she was the daughter of Henry and Laura E. Hill Shelledy. She married Walter Krekel on April 14, 1926, in Decatur, Illinois.
She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, UMW and the Fidelis Class of the church, and Martha Cowles of Kingdaughters.
Surviving are one daughter, Arlene Griffith, Loveland, Colorado; two sons, Richard Krekel, Hamilton, Illinois, and Lyman Krekel, Falls Church, Virginia; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Monday at Sheagren Funeral Home.
The service for Mrs. Krekel will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with the Reverend Glenn Parrott officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery.
A memorial has been established for the church.
