Lorene Hilda Johnson Evelsizer, 92,was the daughter of Hannes and Gaynell Talbot Johnson. She attended the rural Shule school for eight years. The family then moved to a farm east of Onarga, where Lorene attended her first year of high school. When the family moved to La Hogue, Lorene then attended and graduated from Gilman High School.

On May 28, 1940, Lorene married her high school sweetheart, Raymond Wesley Evelsizer.

Lorene then worked as a waitress for five years at the Downy Flake Restaurant in Peoria and a total of 20 more years at the Club 150 and the Cliftwood Inn, both in Morton.

She was a charter member of Bethel Lutheran Church in Morton, working and serving in that church for more than 20 years, before transferring to Advent Lutheran Church in Morton and later to Messiah Lutheran Church in North Fort Myers.

Lorene was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one grandson, Joel Evelsizer, two brothers, Hannes Lee Jr. and Alfred Johnson; four brothers-in-law, John Koets, Albert Medendorp, Marvin Meier and Thomas Strasser and sisters-in-law, Alice, Imogene, Stella, Jan and Joan Johnson and Lorene Koets. She is survived by two sons, Dennis (Elsie) Evelsizer of Forrest, IL, and Darwin (Linda) Evelsizer of Maryville, IL, grandsons David (Stephanie) Evelsizer and Jason (Jodie) Evelsizer, granddaughter, Lisa (Chris) Wilson and great grandchildren Mark, Leah, Alex, Morgan, Dane and Reese Evelsizer and Mitchell Wilson

Lorene is a half 8th cousin, twice removed to Amelia Earhart, the famous female aviator who disappeared in 1937 over the Pacific Ocean while trying to fly around the world.
