His obituary in the Greensboro Record, dated March 28, 1962, provides that he was a native of Alamance County and had resided in Greensboro 32 years. He was a retired engineer of Southern Railway Company.
Surviving were listed as three daughters, Mrs. Elizabeth Bransford, Mrs. Dorothy Moore and Mrs. Gladys Canter, all of Greensboro; two sons, W.P. Cook and J.M. Cook Jr., both of Greensboro; two sisters, Mrs. E.W. King Sr. of Guilford and Mrs. J.E. Shaw of Mebane; one brother, H.L. Cook of Spencer; nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
One son, Maurice Cook, was killed in action during WWII and now rests in the family Lot.
