Born Sept. 2, 1922, in Burlington, she was the daughter of George Franklin and Leona Agnes (Welch) Towne.
She attended schools in Waterbury and received her GED from Montpelier High School.
On May 20, 1939, Beulah married Daniel W. Abar in Waterbury, where the couple lived until the birth of their first son. Later, they made their home in Bethel, Barre and Northfield, and returned to Barre. He died Jan. 16, 1970.
Beulah was a homemaker. She also had worked as a millworker for Northfield Products in Northfield for nearly 20 years.
She was a member of the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd, where she served in the altar guild, and a member of the American Legion Post 10 Ladies Auxiliary, both in Barre.
Knitting, reading, serving as a senior companion with the Barre Council on Aging, and taking sightseeing rides were some of her favorite pastimes.
Survivors include one son, John Abar, of Barre; two daughters, Linda Riley and her husband, Robert, of Lake Placid, Fla., and Nancy Edson, of Winooski; grandchildren Lisa Blau and Jordan Abar, Tina Otis, Shawn Edson, Chuck Edson, Lolita Edson and Holly Covey, as well as 12 great-grandchildren, a nephew and three nieces.
Her husband; parents; son Donald Abar; daughter-in-law, Gladys Abar; brother, Edson Towne; and former longtime friend Raymond Roberts predeceased her.
Her graveside service will be held Monday, Nov. 25, 2013, at 10 a.m. in the Hope Cemetery in Waterbury. There are no calling hours.

BARRE - The graveside service for Beulah Belle Abar, 91, was held Monday, Nov. 25, 2013, in the Hope Cemetery in Waterbury. She died Nov. 19 at the Woodridge Nursing Home in Berlin.
The Rev. Earl Kooperkamp, pastor of the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd in Barre, led the service and offered the committal prayers.
The Hooker and Whitcomb Funeral Home, 7 Academy St. in Barre, was in charge of arrangements.
