Ralph Waldo Patteson Wehrenberg 1925 - 2009 WEST STOCKBRIDGE, MA

Ralph Waldo Patteson Wehrenberg, 84, died Friday, June 19. Born in Springfield, Ill., on May 27, 1925, Mr. Wehrenberg was the son of Mabel Fairchild Wehrenberg and Ralph Waldo Wehrenberg.

He served in the American Field Service with the British Army as an ambulance driver during World War II, with service in Holland, Italy, and India. He lived most of his life in New York City where he was an artist working in a variety of media in the manner of the abstract Fauvist Movement. Mr. Wehrenberg retired to West Stockbridge with his wife in 1986.

He leaves his wife, Judith Sybil Chernoff; his son from his first marriage, Stephen Bolton Wehrenberg of Bowie, Md.; his daughter with Judith, Amy Parker of Brookline, Mass.; and grandchildren Elizabeth, Camille, Alex, James, and Rachel. He also leaves his brother, John (Jack) Wehrenberg and Jack's daughter Rachel and granddaughter Mia Bella, all of Missoula, Mont.

FUNERAL NOTICE: A graveside memorial service will be held at the West Stockbridge Cemetery on Tuesday, June 23, 2009, at 11 a.m.
