He was born November 28, 1941 in Indianapolis to the late Floyd and Ethyl Bumpus.
Richard retired from Indianapolis Water. During his retirement, Richard worked for Guns and Ordnance. He attended Plainfield First Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife of 22 years, Carla Bumpus; children, Glen (Janda) Bumpus, Kelly (Brent) Wright, Tom Bumpus, Roger Reynolds, Jessica (Brice) Allen; ten grandchildren; six great grandchildren.
His son, Lee Bumpus, preceded him in death.
