BURGER, TED - age 72, of Clinton passed away Friday, November 22, 2013, at his residence surrounded by his family. He was a member of St. Therese Catholic Church and was also very active in the building committee at the church. Ted was a project manager at Y-12 with more than 40 years of experience. He was a technical lead on a number of projects. During his career, Ted received numerous awards and honors for his accomplishments and strong work ethic. After retirement he went on to consult at Pro2Serve and Proton Power. Ted enjoyed his time serving on the Clinton City School board in the early 80's. Ted loved to shop, fish, cook, travel, garden and most of all spending time with his grandchildren. Preceded in death by his first wife, Sande Burger; parents, Thomas and America Burger; brothers, Gerald and Wayland Burger. He is survived by wife, Mary Burger of Clinton; daughters, Stacey Howard of Clinton, Jill Hanggi and husband, Matt of Knoxville; grandchildren, Zachary and Jacob Howard of Clinton, Sam and Avery Hanggi of Knoxville; step children, Michelle Howard and husband, James of Lenoir City, Chris Brittain and wife Lynzie of Lenoir City, Ashley Howard; step grandchildren; Jami and Ethan Howard; soon to be born, baby Brittain; sisters; Betty Hensley of Knoxville; Marlene Hensley of CA; special nephew, Dan Hensley and wife, Diane of Knoxville; several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends 5:00 - 7:00 p.m., Monday, November 25, 2013. at St. Therese Catholic Church. A mass to celebrate his life will be 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, at St. Therese Catholic Church celebrated by Father Julius Abuh assisted by Deacon Pat Murphy Racey. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Therese Catholic Church, 701 South Charles Seivers Blvd., Clinton, TN 37716 and American Cancer Society .
