DENDRON - James Ray "Jimmy" McKeel, 45, passed away unexpectedly Saturday, August 3, 2013, at home. Born in Newport News, VA, Jimmy was the son of Herbert R. and Nancy Jackson McKeel of Carrollton. Jimmy was a 1985 graduate of Smithfield High School. He served in the US Navy for six years and trained as a fire control technician. He had been an electrician with IBEW Union #1340 since 1991. In his pastime, Jimmy loved nature and the great outdoors. In addition to his parents, Jimmy is survived by two sisters, Arlene Murphy and her husband, Wayne, and Mary Jo Berryman and her husband, JC; nieces and nephews, Tiffany Livesay, Jeremy Marks, Chad McCampbell and Derek Davis; and great-nieces and great-nephews, Ayden Marks, Logan Livesay, Paige Marks, and Bryson Livesay. A service celebrating Jimmy's life will be held 11:00 AM, Wednesday, August 7, in Colonial Funeral Home, Smithfield, with Rev. Ray Rowland officiating. Burial will follow in Bacon's Castle "Old Brick Church" Cemetery.Family and friends will gather in the funeral home, 6-7:30 pm, Tuesday, for visitation. Arrangements are in the care of Colonial Funeral Home, Smithfield, VA
