Clyde W. Baker, 79, of Portland, died peacefully on Saturday, June 29, 2013 surrounded by his loving family.

Clyde was born in Center, TX on March 20, 1934. He attended Texas schools and was a college graduate. After graduation Clyde enlisted in the U.S. Army and proudly served his country for over twenty years, retiring on August 1, 1975 with the rank of Master Sergeant.

Following his military career Clyde worked various jobs in the local community. He loved to travel and visit family in Texas, and in his younger years he enjoyed camping. Clyde was a quiet man that enjoyed the simpler things in life.

Predeceasing Clyde was his wife, and love of his life Rose Minor Baker.

Surviving are his children; Tammy McLaskey of Portland, Rose Mary Baker-Todd of MO, Crystal Dorizzi of Ct, Ruby Humiston of Westbrook, Nina Dean of Portland, Terry Lilar of Rockland, ME, Andre Baker of Germany, Tanya Baker of Germany, Manwella Kriebel of Germany; brothers Kenneth and Maurice of Texas, a dear granddaughter Penny McLaskey of Portland, and several other grandchildren, great-grandchildren and extended family members.


A period of visitation for Clyde will be held this July 4, 2013 from 1 to 3 PM at the Jones, Rich & Hutchins Funeral Home, 199 Woodford St., Portland, ME; where a funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, July 5. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Portland.

Care for Clyde and his family has been entrusted to the Jones, Rich & Hutchins Funeral Home of Portland.
