N. B. E. Neumann, a highly respected citizen of this place, passed away at his home Sunday at noon, after an illness of several months' duration. Although all that medical assistance could do was done to alleviate his sufferings, there was no hope for his recovery and death came as a relief. In the death of Mr. Neumann the community at large loses a good citizen and the family a kind and loving husband and father. Nicholas B. E. Neumann was born in Germany fifty-three years ago, and came to this county with his father when a boy 11 years of age. He was united in marriage to Miss Eliza McAllister of Spencer Brook, April 24, 1884. Eight children were born to them of whom five are living, as follows: Arthur, of Minneapolis; Mrs. Ada McDonnell, of Winona; and Roy, Nial and Floyd. All were at his beside when he passed away. He also leaves three sisters and three brothers. Mrs. Entrup of St. Paul, Fred Neumann of Foreston, and C. S. Neumann of Princeton, being present at the funeral, which was held Monday afternoon in the Union church. The services were conducted by Rev. Stowe of St. Paul. Mr. Neumann was a member of the Woodmen and I. O. O. F. lodges of this place. The Odd Fellows lodge took charge of the remains and arrangements for the funeral. The beautiful floral offerings were numerous. A large number were in attendance at the funeral services and the capacity of the church was taxed to its utmost to accommodate the friends who came to pay their last tribute of respect to the deceased. Tuesday morning the remains were taken to New Ulm for interment, where the deceased spent sixteen years of his life prior to moving to this place.

Mr. and Mrs. Entrup came up from Minneapolis on Monday to attend the funeral of Mr. Neumann.

Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Diff drove in from Elk River to attend the funeral of N. B. E. Neumann.
