SYRACUSE — Loyal G. "Lou" Armstrong, 84, of McPherson, died Thursday, Feb. 7, 2002, at Memorial Hospital in McPherson.
He was born April 10, 1917, in Jasper County Ark., the son of John and Florence (Spears) Armstrong. A McPherson resident since 1973, he was a farmer, truck driver and landlord. He was a member of Grace Bible Church of McPherson, Syracuse Masonic Lodge and ISIS Shrine at Salina, and was a U.S. Army veteran. On Feb. 25, 1941, he married Helen Mitchell at Neosho, Mo. He married Lucille Hamilton White on July 7,1973, at Cantor. She survives. He is also survived by three sons, David, Mojave, Calif, John, Syracuse, and Mike, Shamrock, Texas; two daughters, Jo Ellen Rudd, Drasco, Ark., and Donna Sue Rohrer, Fairfield Bay, Ark.; two stepsons, Robert White, St. Maries, Idaho, and Rodney White, Brawley, Calif.; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; and two step great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by an infant son, Louis Edward Armstrong. Funeral will be 10 a.m. Monday at Grace Bible Church, McPherson, with the Rev Rich Duerksen officiating. Burial will be in Crestwood Memorial Park Cemetery in rural McPherson.
Visitation hours are from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday, with the family receiving friends from 3 to 5 p.m. at Glidden-Ediger Funeral Home, McPherson. Memorials are suggested to Grace Bible Church at McPherson, in care of the funeral home, 222 W. Euclid St.,
