Farris Gabbard

Farris Gabbard of Waneta, KY was born on May 14, 1906, in Jackson County and departed this life on Monday, September 16, 1996, being 90 years of age. He was the son of the late Wesley Gabbard (John Wesley Gabbard III) and Maggie Slone Gabbard.

Farris was united in marriage to Mary Webb Gabbard on November 29, 1930 in Jackson County, Kentucky. She preceded him in death in December of 1987.

He is survided by four children: Kenneth Gabbard of Sand Gap, Amos Gabbard of Waneta, Lola B. Couch of New Lebanon, Ohio, and Imogene Buck of Dayton, Ohio. He is also survived by two sisters and a brother: Sitha Browning of Annville, Sudie Burke of Dayton, Ohio and Bill Gabbard of Richmond, Kentucky. He was blessed with 15 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.

Other than his parents, Farris was preceded in death by his wife, Mary and by three children; Douglas Gabbard, Margaret Faye Gabbard and Dennis Gabbard.

Farris was a member of the Waneta Church of God.

Funeral Services were held on Thursday, September 19, 1996, 1:00 PM at the Lakes Funeral Home in McKee with Bro. Harold Robinson and Bro. Bee McCollum officiating. Burial followed in the Gabbard Family Cemetery at Waneta. Lakes Funeral Home, Inc. was in charge of arrangements.

Pallbearers were: Danny Dale Gabbard, Paul D. McQueen, Michael K. Gabbard, Dwight Gabbard, Kendall Leon Gabbard, Wendell Lewis Gabbard, Phillip Ray Gabbard, Kevin G. Gabbard and David McQueen.
