Donald B Fish Killed When Truck Cab Falls

Funeral services were held on Tuseday morning in Sacred Heart Church for Donald B Fish, 45, who was killed Friday Oct 2nd, at about 4:00 pm when the tilt cab on a truck fell, penning him between the cab and the motor.
Teh Rev Fr Casimir Adasiewicz officiated the service. Burial was in the Evergreen Cemetery.
Mr Fish had been working on his tractor truck all day Friday, reparing the motor that hoists the cab. He had gone to his home about 3:30 and had returned to the truck to continue working. At about four o'clock his wife sent their son out to get him. The boy found his father pined under the cab, which had apparently bloen down on him. The truck had been facing the wind.
Help was called immediately but a weraker was requried to lift the cab which weighed about a ton.
Mr Fish was extricated and rushed to Momorial Hospital where he was pronounced dead by Dr H J Winkler, coroner, who reported that death was caused by crushing injuries to the head, cheast and abdomen.
He was born in Hudson Bay Junction, Saskatchewan, Canada October 17 1918 and had resided in L'Anse since 1925.
He was employed as a truck driver for the Upper Michigan Warehouse for the past four yeras.
Mr Fish was a member of the Sacared Heart Church and a member of Union Local 328. He was married to the former Isabelle Johnson Nov 5 1938 in L'Anse.
Surviving besides his wife are two daughters Mrs Arnold (Sharon) Putala of Baraga and Helen Betty at home; six sons Dobald of Allouez, James of Baraga, Jack of L'Anse and Robert, Douglas and Daryl at home; his parents Mr and Mrs Edward Fish of Lake Linden; a sister, Mrs Jack (Laura) Turner of Vancouver BC, Canada; a brother Leo M Fish of Cedarburg Wis; eight grandchildren and several neices and nephews.
