Steve was born on March 8, 1934 to Arley Call George and Elsie Marie Nott George in Bountiful Utah. He married his high school sweetheart Aldena Todd on November 22, 1957 in the Salt Lake Temple. Aldena waited for 2 years for him to return from his mission in Canada.
He was a very hard worker, from the time he was 7 years old he was topping turnips for the local farmers. He worked in his early years as a sheepherder and in agricultural endeavors. After his mission and marriage to Aldena he went to work in construction building homes and even the Provo Temple. Later he was revered as a master cement mason. In 1976, he moved his family to Vernal to purchase a diary but that didn’t work out; so he purchased the Basin Laundry where he did the laundry for the hospital and many of the motels and businesses in Vernal until his retirement in 2001.
He did not let retirement slow him down, he continued to help farm for his son-in-law and daughter. He was a temple worker in the Vernal Utah Temple for many years. Even when he didn’t have to work early in the morning at the temple, he would go just to do a session nearly every morning.
He was very proud of his family and his family heritage. He constantly told stories about his ancestors.
Steve is survived by his children: Kimberly (Renn) Smith of Tridell, UT, Mark (Brenda) George, Grand Junction, CO., Tony (Sue) George, Vernal, UT, Craig (LeeAnn) George, Vernal, UT, Garth (HaLaana) George, Vernal UT, Margo (Larry) Jaramillo, Colorado Springs, CO, and Liz (T.C.) Rich, Vernal, UT; 26 Grandchildren and 32 Great-Grandchildren. He is also survived by his brothers Leo George of Phoenix AZ, and Bob George of Bountiful, UT.
